Tateyama

- Oiwasan Nissekiji
- The head temple for the Shingon sect, it is said to have been
founded in the year 725 by the Buddhist saint Gyoki. Here you can see the figure
of Magai, God of Fire, carved in the great wall of Oiwa. It has been designated
a National Cultural Property.

- Anantan no Reijo
- Known as a sacred place for ages, priests and ascetic devotees
have used this hole in their religious training. People come from all over the
country to visit and taste the pure spring water which bubbles up here. The
water is said to be a cure for all kinds of diseases.

- Lake Arimine - Arimine Furusato (nostalgic) Natural Park
- Located at the foot of Tateyama (mountain range constituting
a part of the Northern Alps) Lake Arimine lies at a height of 1,100m above sea
level. It has a dam and is noted for its mysterious beauty. Arimine Natural
Park has various amenities around the lake, such as a campground surrounded
by a white birch forest, outdoor sports facilities and a hydraulic power station
PR center known as the "Arimine Memorial Museum", allowing you to
enjoy nature to your heart's content. A further drive south to the point where
Toyama Prefecture borders Gifu Prefecture allows you to reach the observatory
also known for its literature monument built in association with the novel "Ten
no yugao" written with this area as its setting by famous novelist Nakagawa
Yoichi.

- Shomyo-daki (waterfall)
- As the tallest waterfall in Japan, falling over 350m, "Shomyo-daki" waterfall
has been chosen as one of Japan's 100 best waterfalls. It is a special place
where you can get a close experience with its overwhelming scale, its roaring
sound and water spray. The waterfall has a promenade around it, allowing you
to appreciate its surrounding beautiful nature to your heart's content.

- Tateyama/Kurobe Alpine Route
- This course is designed for touring part of the Northern Alps
(another name for the Hida Mountains running north to south in central Japan)
which extend across Toyama and Nagano Prefectures, a distance of over 90km.
This route allows you to cross part of the Alps focusing on Tateyama and Kurobe
by using an environmentally-friendly hybrid bus, ropeway and cable car. Simultaneously
you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Kurobe, the beautiful sight of alpine
plants blooming with lovely flowers and "rai-cho" (rock ptarmigan)
flying overhead, as well as the world above the clouds.

- Tateyama Museum
- This is an unique museum that allows you to learn about the relationship between people and nature while deepening your understanding of Mt. Tateyama. There are also a large indoor visual center, an outdoor garden with Japanese serows(mountain goats), and other attractions.

- Tateyama Sanroku Kazoku Ryoko Mura
- Situated at the base of Mt. Tateyama, this family oriented village
has an abundance of open grassy spaces, playgrounds, campgrounds, and cabins.
Nearby are nature trails and a large activity area.
